St. Elias Lake is an easy and pleasant hike taking about two hours. The first part of the hike goes through a nice forest, which seems to be populated by numerous spruce grouse. They kind of startle us by flying out of the bushes as we pass but definitely add to our entertainment. The many aspens have beautiful golden leaves and the hike, relatively unspectacular, becomes a real pleasure thanks to the magnificent fall colors in mid-September.

The landscape then opens up towards the lake and offers a good view of the surroundings. As we arrive at Lake St. Elias around noon, the water is calm and the landscape is perfectly reflected on the water surface. We have the lake to ourselves, enjoy the calm and linger a while in this peaceful place before heading back.
