Back in August during our first stay in Whistler, we unfortunately did not manage to get one of the coveted admission tickets for the Joffre Lakes hike. On our return trip from the Yukon to Vancouver in October, we were luckier and were able to do the hike.

The extremely popular Joffre Lakes hike passes through three lakes: Lower, Middle and Upper Joffre Lakes. We reach the first lake, Lower Joffre Lake, after only a few meters. We then climb steadily through the forest until we reach the second lake, Middle Joffre Lake. Its turquoise water is beautiful and the fallen tree trunk in the lake is a popular photo subject, we also take some pictures there before continuing our ascent. We pass the Holloway waterfall and finally reach the Upper Joffre Lake, above which the Matier Glacier is suspended in an impressive way: an optimal setting for a picnic break. We return by the same path to the starting point of the hike.
