Lac Blanc is one of the most beautiful day hikes in the Mont Blanc region. The lake is most famous for the impeccable reflections of the Mont Blanc massif on its surface in calm weather.

The hike starts at the top station of the “La Flégère” cable car. From here, several itinerary options are available. We head northeast, where the trail climbs only slightly for the first few kilometers. Towards the Chéserys lakes, the path becomes steeper, and with the summer heat, it makes us sweat a little. Just before reaching the mountain lakes, we are lucky enough to spot a young ibex. At the Cheserys lakes, we take a short break, eat our picnic and enjoy the beautiful mountain panorama.

The trail continues via a four-metre-high ladder and a final short and steep climb to Lac Blanc. The lake’s mountain hut offers refreshments. An overnight stay is also highly recommended, allowing you to enjoy this idyllic spot at the end of the day and early in the morning in complete peace and quiet. A day hike, however, also allows you to admire the panorama. The descent from the Lac Blanc to the “La Flégère” top station takes about another hour.
