Our first hike in Rocky Mountain National Park takes us from Bear Lake to Emerald Lake and on to Haiyaha Lake. It is considered one of the most beautiful and popular hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park.
We take the National Park Shuttle-Service to go to the trailhead Bear Lake. Four rangers are on site to help the hikers and tourists out. We take advantage of this opportunity and get very helpful information about the current trails conditions in the park from an experienced and kind ranger.
We start the trail in a very good mood. It leads us past five lakes, each one more beautiful than the other. Within a few minutes we reach the smallest of the five lakes, Nymph Lake. Passing Dream Lake we then reach Emerald Lake – according to Philip the most beautiful of the lakes. We take a short break there. The hike is very pleasant, technically not too hard and we enjoy nice small talks with other hikers.
The ascent to Haiyaha Lake – Marion’s favorite – is a little bit more challenging, but it is definitely worth it. The way back goes through the same way.
